Second Life's Printing Industry Center
Brian Regan of the professionals staffing firm Semper left a comment on industry education piece over at the PrintCEO blog on creating an industry presence in the virtual world Second Life.
An industry presence in Second Life might be worthwhile, however I don't think the folks at PIA/GATF are the right people to do it. From my observations, the folks at PIA/GATF don't get new media.
The Printing Industry doesn't need to have a presence in Second Life because it's the cool thing to do. And I think this is how PIA/GATF would treat it. We have a Second Life presence, now what?
I can only imagine how PIA/GATF would react if the Second Life Print Industry Center was attacked John Edwards-style and defaced by a "feces spewing obscenity" created by Second Life new media rivals.
If the industry builds any presence in Second Life it should be done by current students studying printing and graphic communications.
