What Electronic Publishing Thinks

Congratulations to Randy, Wes, and Eric over at WhatTheyThink on their purchase of Electronic Publishing.

WhatTheyThink leads the way in the internet delivery of printing industry commentary and information. Hopefully with this acquisition, Electronic Publishing will get a much needed second wind.

My questions for WTT:

  • Did the purchase of include the rights to all previous magazine content? If so will WhatTheyThink continue to provide access to the electronic issue archives? I hope they will, and I hope they build a better interface to this extensive information resource.

  • Will WhatTheyThink be investing in the Electronic Publishing title or was this just a strategic purchase of the EP's subscriber base? Finally killing the magazine after PennWell effectively killed it by eliminating the printed edition in 2006.

Update: I caught up with Randy Davidson and he confirms they have only purchased the Electronic Publishing subscriber base. They had considered purchasing the entire content portfolio, but the asking price was too much for out of date how-tos and reviews.
