Cool Products

XMPie Unveils uEdit

XMPie Unveiled uEdit this morning. uEdit is an Adobe Flash-based online editor for Web-to-print storefronts.

I see a lot of potential for the development of easy to use web-to-print interfaces (the holy grail or web-to-print).

Adobe Flex

Adobe Flex is a flash-based framework for creating a feature rich, internet applications.

This is another product that could be used to develop some pretty cool web-to-print interfaces.

Xerox Print Engines

Xerox has their Xerox iGen3 90 Digital Production Presses in their booth (as well as a iGen3 110). The iGen3 90 announced at IPEX is a 90-page-per-minute model based on the same technology that drives the flagship iGen3 110.

Xerox iGen3 90 Digital Production Presses makes it easier for print providers who have lower print volumes to enter the high-end digital printing market with a lower capital investment.

Xerox has the new Xerox DocuColor 5000 on the floor. The DC5000 is a 50 page-per-minute mid-level production press based on the imaging engine in the DocuColor 240/250.

Canon imagePRESS C7000VP

Canon has a their new imagePRESS C7000VP (previously known as the ImagePRESS X) on the show floor. It's roped off and on a pedestal and guarded by an army of Canon marketing and engineering folks.

Screen

Screen has their Truepress Jet 520 on the floor. The Truepress Jet 520 was first shown last fall at PRINT 05. The Truepress Jet 520 uses Epson's Piezo drop-on-demand inkjet print heads to print 420 full-color pages (209.9 feet/minute) at 1400 x 1400 dpi (2 bit).

Screen still has the unit printing roll-to-roll and is not handing out sample prints.

Kern

The Kern 515 EasyMailer is a document finishing system that can take a flat sheet of paper and convert it to an envelope and letter. Think, personalized direct mail pieces printed on your favorite digital printer as a single sheet and easily converted to to a sealed envelope with having to stuff to envelope and letter.
