Adobe PDF Print Engine
Adobe Systems announces the Adobe PDF Print Engine, a Software Development Kit (SDK) that will enable software and hardware vendors to leverage the power of pure PDF in their workflow products. The PDF Print Engine allows common PDF technology to be used across the workflow which will improve consistency and predictability of print output. The PDF Print Engine is JDF-enabled allow it to capture job ticket and process control information separately from the PDF file, enabling device-independent PDF files.
IPEX 2006
52,432 visitors attended this years largest print show which took place April 4-11th at the NEC, Birmingham, UK. IPEX takes place every four years at the NEC in Birmingham, UK
Agfa's Big Deal
Agfa Graphics announced its biggest order ever at IPEX. The company has signed a ten year contract worth €100 million with News International in the UK to supply CTP equipment, plates and workflow systems for NI's three print sites. Agfa will also be providing facilities management for the three sites.
Lightning Source Inc. Prevails in Patent Infringement Lawsuit
Lightning Source Inc., a subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc. wins On-Demand Machine Corporation (OMDC) court case. The United States Court of Appeals overturned a lower courts' ruling that Lightning Source Inc. and Amazon.com infringed on an OMDC patent.
