GRACoL 7 Characterization Data Available

GRACoL has made the GRACoL 7 characterization data available for public comment:

IDEAlliance Posts GRACoL 7 Data for Comment

Alexandria, VA, April 10, 2006. The International Digital Enterprise Alliance (IDEAlliance) today announced that it is posting the GRACoL 7 characterization data for public comment. The data set contains CIELab and XYZ data (D50, 2 degree, per CGATS.5 and ISO 13655), as well as CMYK reference values, listed in column order of the IT8.7/4 default visual layout.

Visit GRACoL.com to request the data.

The GRACoL G7 methodolgy AKA the The GRACoL 7 "How to" Beta Kit which includes everything needed to test drive the G7 Press and Proofing Calibration method can be downloaded from GRACoL's site in the GRACoL Resource Center as well.

For some reason, IDEAlliance has decided to use a convoluted method to gain access to the GRACoL data. You must first download an archive containing a copyright and disclaimer, and terms of use files. The terms of use must then be sent back to IDEAlliance gain access to the data.

I understand GRACoL is an industry specification developed by a semi-closed (by that I mean paid membership required) industry group and not an open standard, but I would think the GRACoL Committee would want to make as easy as possible to get access to this data.

Update:

Jim Raffel chimes in with On Standards, Dues, and Barriers to Entry.
