TAGA Day 3 Session 8: Packaging-Gravure

Print Line Quality in the Gravure Process

Tim C. Claypole and Eifion Jewell, Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating, University of Wales Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom

Notes: Print line quality is an important attribute for the rotogravure process if its going to be a viable option in the manufacture of printed electronics. In rotogravure, images are created by using cells to deposit ink on the substrate. Even solid lines are made up of tiny 'dots.' (unlike offset and flexo which can transfer a solid images -- sans dots). The small voids in a gravure printed image can cause a problem when producing electronic circuits where gaps in a circuit are bad.

Gamut Optimization for Process Color Printing

Robert Chung and Fred Hsu, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York, U.S.A.

Notes: Bob's presentation went over a process for optimizing the gamut of a rotogravure package printing workflow.

Study Of Ink Mileage Curve Of Gravure Printing

Renmei Xu, Alexandra Pekarovicova, Paul D. Fleming III, and Valery Bliznyuk, Western Michigan University Department of Paper and Printing Science and Engineering, Kalamazoo, Michigan, U.S.A.

Notes: None.
