TAGA Day 1: Keynotes
The activities kicked off at 11:00AM for the students attending the conference with a Student Brunch Meeting.
Student Brunch Meeting Notes
Brunch was provided by the Newspaper Association of America (NAA). Ken Columbia Director, Industry Staff Development talked about careers in the Newspaper industry during the brunch.

Keynotes
The theme for today is keynotes. The are 4 keynotes being delivered from 2p to 5:30p. The keynotes are being kicked-off by Paul Pirkle from MAN Roland USA, followed by Roger Siminoff of Apple Computer, then Michael Riebesehl from Xerox Corporation and finally Dr. Graham Battersby from FlintGroup.
Paul Pirkle Notes
Paul is Vice President Commercial Web Sales at MAN Roland USA.
Paul discussed the press system innovation at MAN Roland.
Roger Siminoff Notes
Roger is the Senior Marketing Manager, Professional Graphics Products at Apple Computer. Roger's personal homepage is siminoff.net
Roger looked at softproofing or virtualproofing as he prefers to label it. Roger discussed the adoption of virtualproofing by Time Inc. in the pressroom for their 4 weekly magazines.
Michael Riebesehl Notes
Michael is the iGen3 Project Manager at Xerox. When I interned at Xerox last year, Michael was my office neighbor at the Gil Hatch Center.
Michael gave an overview of the technology found in the Xerox iGen3 and went over a few print applications that being used by companies to take advantage of digital printing technologies.
Graham Battersby Notes
Graham is CTO for FlintGroup.
Graham discussed printed electronics. Main points:
There are opportunities to produce electronic circuits using using traditional print processes.
There is no money to be made in producing printed RFID tags.
