Printmode Gift Guide
This holiday season, holiday gift guides seem to be the fad. Last count, I've received at least 8 different guides from companies I do business with or want my business.
With that said, here's the Printmode Holiday Gift Guide™, a guide to holiday gifts for your favorite print professional:
With the price of handheld spectrophotometers dropping, why not give your favorite color management geek a GretagMacbeth Eye-One or an X-Rite Pulse.
Do you know someone that spends their entire day (life) looking at and thinking about dots? Then a perfect gift for them is a Beta Industries BETA Color Viewer II or the new BETA Color Viewer III.
Every print media professional needs to have a copy of Helmut Kipphan's Handbook of Print Media on their reference self.
Other must have books include Understanding Color Management and Billmeyer and Saltzman's Principles of Color Technology, 3rd Edition.
Does your favorite prepress technician complain that proofs aren't matching the press? Give the gift of process control. ColorMetrix Technologies has an innovative web-based solution called Proofpass that will allow him to monitor his output.
A Membership to PIA/GATF, NAPL, TAGA, IPA, or one of the other industry associations is great way to get them involved in the industry.
Some people spend their entire day in looking at dots, others at ICC-profiles. For the latter, Chromix ColorThink is a must have.
Know an opinionated print pundit? Give the gift of blogging. The TypePad blogging services offers various levels of service to meet your pundits needs.
If they're too opinionated, you can always give them duct tape to send a subtle hint.
This list isn't definitive, but its a good start, let me know what you would put on the list.

Hey Adam,
Thanks for the props. But you STILL can't have my EyeOne.
LOL

P.S. ProofPass.com can now export your measurements to ColorThink, thanks to Steve Upton at Chromix and Mike Woods at ColorMetrix.
